Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated professional with expertise in developing and implementing patient-centered pharmacy services that drive improved health outcomes. As a key member of the Pharmacy leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in designing and executing processes that prioritize patient safety, operational efficiency, and integrity of the Pharmacentres operations.
Your role will encompass overseeing operations that directly support the Pharmacentres, ensuring safe, accurate, and timely preparation and delivery of medications to our patients. Additionally, you will be responsible for assisting in day to day business operations.
This position requires flexibility to work across all THP sites, with regular travel between locations as needed. The primary schedule for this role will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM EST, although variation may occur due to operational requirements.
Position Summary:
Leadership and Team Management:
- Recruit, coach, train, and monitor pharmacy staff to build a high-performing team.
- Coordinate daily activities, manage attendance, and oversee performance development programs.
- Address disciplinary actions as required, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
- Oversee scheduling, electronic timekeeping, and team rounding to ensure smooth operations.
Quality Assurance and Operations:
- Lead the coordination of operations to meet standards set by the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP).
- Develop, implement, and monitor processes and procedures tailored to the unique needs of the Pharmacentres.
- Collaborate with patient care areas to support outpatient pharmacy needs to deliver high-quality, patient-centered services.
- Monitor quality indicators and leverage metrics to identify opportunities for process enhancements.
Audits and Compliance:
- Conduct and report on audits to ensure compliance and maintain high operational standards.
- Ensure all practices adhere to standards set by the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP).
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Develop workflow procedures and applications to enhance team productivity and support cost containment efforts.
- Lead process enhancements and innovative strategies to improve medication safety, streamline workflow, and integrate new processes and technologies in the Pharmacentre settings.
- Identify and implement innovative strategies to drive operational excellence and improve patient care.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support the integration of drug distribution and inventory management systems across sites.
- Provide training and mentorship for pharmacy staff and support continuing education.
- Perform other duties assigned, contributing to overall department success.
Key Qualifications:
- Active registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP).
- A minimum of 5 years of outpatient pharmacy experience or equivalent expertise.
- Preceptor training with the OCP is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in computer systems, including Kroll, AutoStar POS, and Microsoft 365 programs an asset.
- Significant experience of retail pharmacy purchasing and inventory management.
- Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and mentorship skills, with a proven ability to lead and inspire teams.
- In-depth knowledge of legislative guidelines governing pharmacy practices.
- A demonstrated commitment to patient safety and a passion for delivering exceptional, patient-centered care.
- The ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, adapting effectively to periods of rapid change and transition.
- A strong record of positive performance and reliable attendance.
